Douglas Valley Properties is a non-profit organisation established in 1998 to manage buildings constructed during the life of City Challenge (1993-1998).
In order to continue some of the social projects commenced during the City Challenge, a revenue stream was established comprised of the rent income from Wigan Investment Centre, Rosebridge Court, Coops Business Centre, and Hope Enterprise Centre.
These rents, after deduction of expenses for maintaining the properties are passed onto Douglas Valley Communities to assist the Boroughs Communities.
Hope Enterprise Centre situated off Scot Lane, Newtown was established to encourage new businesses within the City Challenge area and the Manager, John Burns, provides business advice and support to the tenants.

Since 1998, Douglas Valley Properties has also worked with Coalfield Challenge and SRB5 Atherton Building Communities to bring within its portfolio properties in both Leigh and Atherton, which have contributed towards its annual activity.
Douglas Valley Properties were the first business support provider to deliver the Gibfield Women’s Enterprise Centre, Atherton www.womeninbusiness.org.uk .
The centre is a bespoke business incubation centre offering a range of business support mechanisms geared to women in business. The centre provides access to female friendly business advisers, banks, solicitors, accountants and a host of other organisations.
